Skills that are highly sought after on the job market
In our increasingly digital society, the explosion in the volume of available data and the need to process and exploit it to draw out its value have given rise to new professions, such as that of data scientist.
People in this profession have skills in two areas:
- Mathematics: mastering useful statistics tools and concepts to analyze data.
- IT: mastering IT tools, from general programming to specific database tools.
The Engineering-Data Science degree
This course was created in partnership with ENSAE ParisTech and is made up of seven semesters:
- Four semesters on the General Engineering program at Telecom SudParis,
- Three semesters on the Engineering program at ENSAE ParisTech with classes from the “Data Science” specialization stream
Academic learning is complemented by two internships during the period at ENSAE ParisTech:
- a 10 to 16-week internship at the end of second year to put theory into practice,
- a 14 to 26-week internship in third year at the end of the course.
These two internships allow students to immerse themselves in professional environments.
After completing this course. students will receive:
- an Engineering degree from Telecom SudParis
- an Engineering degree from ENSAE ParisTech
How to become an Engineer-Data Scientist
Candidate profile
Only students from the MP, PSI and PC science preparatory classes who pass the competitive entry exam in first year of the General Engineering program at Télécom SudParis, may be admitted to the double degree program.
Students must apply at the beginning of second year.
Candidate selection
Admission is based on the quality of the candidate’s application and their motivation and ability to successfully complete the exchange program. The panel may decide to hold additional interviews. Admission is conditional on passing the first four semesters of the General Engineering program.
